Day 3 - A World Without Cell Phones.

Deb and I slept in on Tuesday morning and took a leisurely stroll around Còrdoba. We got harassed by an old lady outside a geriatric home, ate some awesome pastries, and watched some little kids feed pigeons. The weather was nice and it was nice to just relax for a while. In fact, it may have been the most relaxing time of our entire vacation!

Our plan for the day was pretty much this:
  • Sleep in
  • Eat some good food (Pastries & Jamon y Queso)
  • Meet up with Scott at 1pm outside La Mezquita.
No biggie, right? Deb and I packed up our snail shells at noon and went to La Mezquita to wait for Scott. We figured that by saying that we'd meet at 1pm, we were overguestimating the time that he'd be there and for sure he'd be there early. We could eat a quick lunch and then head out of town. Well, at 2pm we were still waiting, so Deb and I decided that something was wrong and that we needed to go check our email. We shlepped our shtuff across town to the internet cafe, checked our email and found out that due to weather delays, Scott hadn't gotten on the flight to Madrid, but that he'd worked it out somehow with the airlines and we were to meet him that night at our hotel in Tarifa. What that really meant for us though was that we had to get to the train station PRONTO! {We had no idea what time the next train left for some po-dunk town where we had to make a random bus connection!} I wish there were pictures of us running down the street with our huge bags to catch a bus that wasn't ours and then more pictures of us waiting in the train station for 3 hours waiting to catch the right train, but there aren't. The only thing I have for you is this:

What is that, you ask? Oh. Yeah. It's the Rock of Gibraltar. I swear. And here I am flexing for you on the bus, showing you MY Rock of Gibraltar. Take that! So maybe I'll have to go back there someday to see it during the daylight.

First thing on the docket once we roll into Tarifa? You guessed it: Jamon y Queso. There was a little empanada/bocadillo shop right outside our hotel, so we enjoyed our food and the nice Tarifa weather as some locals were setting up for Semana Santa at the Cathedral down the street.

Deb had gone inside to get us more food when I heard a cab pull up. Before I even turned around, I knew that it had to be Scott.

We had a joyous reunion right there in the middle of the street and then decided that after one long stressful day, we needed to go to bed. We really liked our hotel room - it had a loft with a kitchen and a very nice bathroom. Only problem was that when someone went in to use the bathroom, this is what you saw:

Oh hi! Have fun in the bathroom Scott! What's even funner is that the glass shower door is right there too, so yeah - great for couples; not great for 3 platonic friends traveling together. :)

Look at us being good girls and reading our scriptures before bedtime! We wanted to be well rested before going to Morocco in the morning - and that was a grand adventure to say the least. Scott's camera is about to kick into high gear and you won't be sorry. And on to Africa!
