This Sunday

The day has come, my friends and loyal readers. My half-marathon is on Sunday. I haven't run longer than a mile in 3 weeks due to pain that I've been having in my legs. Thanks to the many friends who have sent their support over the past few days. It is more appreciated than you know! I'll have pics for sure on Monday.
Give Blood
Be a blood donor. :)PS. Be nice to me. I gave blood today. The last time I tried to donate, I was rejected for being anemic, so I've been afraid to donate for a while. Good thing I've become addicted to these bad boys that have a high percentage of iron in them.
The Truth
There have been a few posts lately (here and here) about how the lives of bloggers isn't really as peachy as they make it out to be. I 100% agree with that, but I'm also proud to say that I'm not usually afraid to post about some of the not-so-peachy things that happen to me. My visiting teachers have gotten details (hi girls!) during their monthly visits about things that I leave off my blog in a small attempt to censor my life. I have gotten many comments from close friends and family though that it seems like I have a very exciting life and that I'm always doing something fun. Well, its time to come clean about this. I've been holding back for so long!
Its the truth.
I watch way more Gilmore Girls than I should, I eat out almost every night, I love my roommates. I laugh all the time, I live on the beach, I love my job. I travel quite a bit and I love spending time with my family. I'm happy. Yeah, I'd say that if you think my blog portrays me as happy, you'd be right.

1234
My blog may be heavy on the videos today just as a warning. Jordan posted this video today and I'm so glad that she did!! I've been in love with the song for about a week now and have been listening to it non-stop at work. Who knew that it had such an awesome video to go with it. Enjoy!
This song is called 1234 and its by Feist in case you're interested a little more. Anyone want to go see them with me on June 26th????

Blake is Incredible
Did you see this last night? Well, if you did, watch it again. If you didn't, check this out...because this performance was amazing.

My Struggles as Mother Teresa

My roommate told me something a few months ago that I had known for quite a while. I've got a disease. Unfortunately, it cannot be cured by more cowbell. I wish! Its called "Mother Teresa Syndrome." Sometimes this disease is a good thing; I feel bad for those around me who need help and most of the time, I help in any way I can. I love the feeling of people being dependent on me. If I worked in a homeless shelter, this would be ideal; however, in a relationship, it's mostly fatal. I have a tendency to get in relationships with boys who are girlfriend dependent. They need me. And I love it. Most of the time, they tell me all the reasons why I shouldn't be with them. "Don't date me, I'm a scum ball" they say. I'm serious though...this really has happened on way more than one occasion. A few have told me this but the others just give me lots of and lots of red flags and somehow hypnotize me and I keep walking towards the light. Not so sure why I do this. I know that it's just part of who I am, but I'm realizing more and more that I'm happier single than when in a relationship (with a man at least...I mean...lets be honest; being in a 'relationship' with Uzi for the past 18 months has changed my life!). I found out this morning that my most recent ex is already in another relationship and even though I'm not sad about it or upset, it still stings a little. Even though it's not true, it makes you feel like you weren't really that awesome after all since they got over you so quickly. I was warned, I tell you, I was warned. Did I listen?? No. Why is it that we always think that we're the exception? My family sees this pattern and tries to help me "see the light" but I'm learning the hard way that what others think is super important. I give so much of myself that I end up getting hurt because I'm the only one who has really sacrificed anything for the relationship. If you never put your heart into it, you never really lose anything. Its just whenever that dang Mother Teresa kicks in that I end up getting kicked in the head. So is it better to put less of yourself into a relationship so that you get hurt less or to put more of yourself into it so that you get hurt more? Thoughts please...
More Slide Fun
We had so much fun the other day at the slides that I pulled out a few favorites to share with you. To see all of them, check out Juliann's collection. This was by far the most fun I've had in a LONG time.

Our own family pictures
A few months ago Kristy and I decided that it would be cool to put up some silhouettes of our "family" on the wall in our dining room. I got the idea from this and this. So we are in no way finished with our project, but luckily due to Rebecca's awesome computer art skills, its fairly easy to pump these babies out like a machine. Thank you Rebecca for the awesome job on these.
If we think you are cool and worth looking at while we're in the kitchen, you just might find yourself immortalized. Or you can just think of it as that we love you like you are our own family. The latter is probably closer to the truth.
Here's my favorite picture of the set...

Get Better Soon
Sometimes you don't realize how much you care about someone until they call you to say that they're sick or hurt. My best friend called me tonight to tell me that he's in a hospital in Florida because he got his appendix removed this morning. Unfortunately he was on a cruise when all this went down, so it wasn't the most opportune time (if any is) for something like this to happen. This picture is a few years old, but its a goodie. Love you Matt. Glad that you're ok.
Weekend of Favorite Things
Sometimes it takes a friend coming into town for me to realize how amazing my life really is. On Thursday I got a call from a girl that I grew up with saying that she was moving to San Fran and needed a place to stay for a bit. She arrived on Friday and being around someone who is really seeing San Francisco for the first time has been super refreshing. Little did I know it would be a weekend of some of my favorite things:
On Friday, Roommate, Uzi, Natalie, and I went to Palo Alto for the Gallon Challenge which was actually a lot of fun. We visited, laughed, and played games. My friend Natalie repeatedly mentioned how nice everyone is. I agree; I do have nice friends. Spending time with friends in Palo Alto is indeed one of my favorite things. Eating oreos and milk with Uzi & Silvia is an added bonus as well.
Saturday morning Matt and I went to breakfast in Sausalito which was really nice. The weather was fantastic! After eating we went up to the Humane Society to look into adopting a dog for Matt. It didn't quite work out like we hoped it would, but playing with Mikey the chihuahua for a little while was great!
I should have gotten some pictures while he wasn't in the kennel...but I didn't for whatever reason. We also went for a little nature hike at a community college back by my aunt's house in Novato. It is one of my favorite places on earth (aside from my Gram's porch). It must have been over 90 degrees out there; I was even breaking a sweat! Seriously...a beautiful place. Here's a little slide show for you:
Saturday night a group of us went to go see my old roommate Laura in her senior recital at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. Not only was I impressed by her incredible voice but by her ability to memorize an hour and a half of music/words in multiple languages such as German, Italian, Spanish, and French. Oh. And English. Don't forget about those songs in English.
Afterwards some of us got together at my place and played a rowdy version of "Name That Tune" with our i-Pods. So for Saturday...breakfast with a close friend (an all-time favorite), walking a dog (another favorite), hiking in Novato (love it), hearing Laura sing (also love it), and spending time with Dan, Buck, and Uzi when it involves music AND the couch(does it get any better?!).
On Sunday, church was good and afterwards, we went over to the ever lovely 42 Steiner apartment to eat dinner. Everything was sooo yummy. Uzi and I made a great Brie & Artichoke Heart dip, Juliann & Joy made some great chicken with barbeque sauce & cranberries, and Rebecca & Natalie made a spinach, strawberry, gorgonzola, and walnut salad that was to die for. To top it all off, after dinner a group of us went to the secret slides. I even had to promise that I wouldn't disclose the location of said slides here on my blog...so if you want to know where they are, you'd better be really nice to me. I haven't seen any of the pictures of us yet, but here is one that I stole from Juliann.
